Digital Angel [AMEX: DOC], a St. Paul, Minn.-based provider of Global Positioning System tracking devices, reported revenue of $11.4 million for the first quarter, an increase of 47 percent over the year-ago period. Net income was $110,000 for the quarter, compared to net loss of $22.5 million in the 2002 January-March period.

The first quarter marks the company’s first profitable period since it merged with Medical Advisory Systems in March 2002. In the upcoming quarters, Digital Angel expects to launch a GPS-based personal connectivity device and an implantable BioThermo temperature-sensing microchip for pets, working animals and livestock.
