Smith Micro Software [Nasdaq: SMSI], a Aliso Viejo, Calif. -based developer of software and service communications for the wireless market, has agreed to supply data connectivity accessory kits to Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications for its GSM/GPS satellite phones.

Smith Micro will supply Thuraya with QuickLink Mobile along with QuickLink Mobile’s companion products, QuickLink Mobile for Pocket PC, QuickLink Mobile Phonebook and QuickLink Mobile Fax. The Thuraya kit will also include a means for the consumer to download commercially available Global Positioning System (GPS) software to be used with Thuraya’s satellite phones. Thuraya, located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, provides mobile voice and data services using a dual-mode architecture that combines satellite connectivity, including GPS location, and mobile access via existing GSM networks.
