This year will be a transition year for SES Americom, said CEO Dean Olmstead. The satellite operator will try to position itself for the future when the market picks up, he told SATELLITE TODAY.

“We are working on new market segment initiatives. Americom2Home is a key one. Americom Government Services is another key. We do expect significant double-digit growth in that segment in 2003. We are moving forward to enhance our ability to serve the government market. We already have the largest number of high-definition transponders.” He added, “We will be selecting our broadband platform in 2003 but it won’t be contributing to revenue until 2004 and 2005.”

An exclusive interview with Dean Olmstead can be found in the April 23 issue of Interspace. For more information about subscribing to PBI Media’s satellite newsletters, check out our Web site at https://www.satellitetoday.com
