ITT Gets $31M GPS Contract
Boeing Integrated Defense Systems has awarded ITT Industries’ [NYSE: ITT] Aerospace/Communication Division (A/CD) a contract with a potential value $31 million to upgrade 12 Global Positioning System (GPS) Block IIF satellites.
The GPS IIFs will be modified with two new transmitters and associated power amplifiers, modulators and converters to create a flexible power system that can be used to resist jamming. Work on this contract will be performed at A/CD’s Clifton, N.J., facility and is scheduled for completion in 2008.
The IIF modernization program is similar to work ITT is performing for eight GPS IIR flight systems. Both systems will use ITT’s multiplexing technology to give additional signal strength to the GPS transmissions.
