Northrop Grumman [NYSE: NOC] has signed an agreement with Orbcomm, a Dulles, Va.-based satellite communications provider, for Orbcomm to provide data transmission services through its low-orbit satellite network for container tracking and monitoring.
Using Orbcomm’s network, Los Angeles-based Northrop Grumman will monitor the status of containers during trans-Atlantic voyages to ensure container integrity through the use of electronic seals. This is designed to prevent unauthorized materials from going into containers.
