L-3 Delivers Terminals For NATO
L-3 Communications [NYSE: LLL] announced March 31 that its Communication Systems-West division has delivered the first two super-high frequency airborne satellite communication (satcom) terminals, the first airborne wide band data link (AWDL), the first ground wideband data link and a set of spares in support of NATO’s Airborne Stand Off Radar (ASTOR) program.
The L-3 systems provide the ASTOR program with satellite and line-of-sight (LOS) communication relays for both inside and outside the theater. The airborne satcom terminals provide secure beyond LOS voice and data communication at variable rates. The AWDL, which provides secure LOS variable data transfers, is compliant with NATO standards and provides NATO interoperability with NATO intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance systems.
