Global Positioning System receiver developer Fastrax and Savox Communications, a telecom accessory product provider, have teamed up for a new GPS accessory for TETRA (terrestrial trunked radio) terminals.

The GPS accessory developed by Savox using Fastrax technology complements TETRA communication systems with accurate positioning features. The accessory connects to serial ports of TETRA devices.

The positioning information for the Savox GPS accessory is provided with Fastrax iTrax02/8 GPS receivers. The iTrax 02/8 receiver offers fast-time-to-first-fix service and supports assisted GPS for urban tracking.
