AsiaSat CEO Ready For AsiaSat 4 Challenge
With the imminent launch of AsiaSat 4 in the next few weeks, AsiaSat CEO Peter Jackson admitted that the main challenge for the operator in 2003 would be to sell capacity on the satellite. This will not be easy given difficult economic conditions in the region. However, Jackson is optimistic, despite a potentially tough year ahead.
Jackson told SATELLITE TODAY, “The main challenge for us in the short-term is to make AsiaSat 4 look attractive to new customers and new entrants coming into the market. AsiaSat 2 and 3 are providing a very good service. People are recognizing the benefits of quality even if it costs them a bit more … The challenge is to get the satellite up, sell the capacity and create a market niche which it can excel at.”
