GlobeCast, the satellite services unit of France Telecom [FTE], said China’s national broadcaster CCTV-9 is now available on its digital DTH Hot Bird platform as part of French satellite bouquet TPS and its Eurobird platform targeting over 6.3 million Sky Digital subscribers in the UK and Ireland.

GlobeCast’s digital DTH platforms on Hot Bird and Eurobird offer CCTV-9 access to over 1.2 million TPS subscribers in France as well as 6.3 million Sky Digital subscribers across the UK and Ireland. CCTV-9 is uplinked from Beijing to the PAS10 satellite and is downlinked at GlobeCast’s Paris teleport. From Paris, the signal is simultaneously uplinked to GlobeCast’s TPS platform on Hot Bird and delivered to GlobeCast’s London teleport via its fiber link where it is uplinked onto GlobeCast’s digital DTH platform.
