PanAmSat’s [Nasdaq: SPOT] newly acquired G2 Satellite Solutions Company (G2) plans to offer satellite and value-added services to the government. To facilitate that work, the new business unit (formerly Hughes Global Services) will be based in Washington, D.C.

Joe Wright, PanAmSat president and CEO, will also be chairman of G2. Tom Eaton, PanAmSat’s executive vice president for global sales and marketing, will be president. Don Gonzales, a 30-year veteran with Hughes who headed up the operations of Hughes Global Services, is senior vice president of G2 responsible for its day-to-day operations.
