This year is likely to be a tough year for satellite operators in Latin America, according to Lincoln Oliveira, chief technology officer of Latin American satellite operator Star One. He told SATELLITE TODAY that with a number of economies in the region still suffering, it appears as though a satellite recovery may not be around the corner.

“Despite indicators of a better GDP growth this year, I think maybe things will only get better in 2004 and beyond. We are still in a defensive mode right now,” Oliveira added.

An exclusive interview with Lincoln Oliveira can be found in the March 12 edition of Interspace. For more information on Interspace and other PBI Media satellite newsletters, check out our Web site at https://www.satellitetoday.com.
