High-definition broadcaster HDNet has selected PanAmSat [Nasdaq: SPOT] to provide satellite delivery of its high-definition television (HDTV) content to its cable and direct broadcast satellite (DBS) providers throughout North America. By working with PanAmSat, HDNet’s programming will be made available to nearly 10,000 cable headends across the United States.
By entering into this agreement with PanAmSat, HDNet will now extend its reach and distribute its programming via satellite to U.S. cable and DBS providers. Initially, HDNet will utilize the Galaxy IX satellite at 127 degrees west longitude before migrating to Galaxy XIII, due to be launched in the second half of 2003.
