Maritime Telecommunication Networks (MTN), a provider of satellite-based communications, networking and other services to the cruise ship and offshore oil and gas industries, has signed a three-year pact to provide equipment and services that will enable GlobalSantaFe Corporate Services personnel on nine rigs to receive global communications coverage.

The VSAT services provided to GlobalSantaFe will include C-Band and Ku-Band capabilities. MTN (Miramar, Fla.) will install satellite communications facilities onboard each of the nine offshore drilling rigs. The deal was announced just one week after investment firm Falconhead Capital (New York City) acquired MTN.
