KVH Industries [KVHI] is launching a satellite communications system designed for maritime use – the Tracphone F55. The Tracphone F55 uses Inmarsat’s satellites to offer leisure and small commercial vessels voice connections worldwide and high-speed data and Internet connections over 90 percent of marine cruising routes and shipping lanes. KVH said the Tracphone F55 will also be compatible with Inmarsat’s next generation of satellites scheduled for launch beginning in 2005.
