Korea’s Samsung Electronics has selected Conexant Systems [Nasdaq: CNXT] to provide digital satellite set-top box (STB) semiconductors deployment in Korea digital satellite broadcasting’s (KDB) SkyLife satellite television network.

The STB supports the digital video broadcasting-multimedia home platform (DVB-MHP), which provides viewers with Internet access and interactive services such as Web browsing, Internet gaming, online shopping and TV mail. Conexant (Newport Beach, Calif.) teamed with Alticast (Austin, Texas), an interactive digital TV software developer, to deliver the complete DVB-MHP as part of the set-top box design for Samsung.
