Washington-based XM Satellite Radio [Nasdaq: XMSR], which has been the target of protesters seeking expanded minority-oriented programming, is preparing to offer 350 hours of minority-oriented programming across 19 channels in February, which is Black History Month.

Music from Ragtime to Jazz and from Gospel to Hip-Hop will be featured along with specials on the contributions of African-Americans in a variety of fields, company officials said. The programming also will include exclusive interviews with two Tuskegee Airmen and with singer-songwriter Donal Lease.
