The T. Howard Foundation, an organization devoted to helping women and people of color break into the satellite telecommunications industry, will recognize the achievements of AOL Time Warner [AOL] Vice Chairman Ted Turner at a fundraising dinner May 19 in New York.

The event is the foundation’s largest fundraiser annually and will mark the 10th straight year the dinner has been held to support the group’s scholarship program. The foundation chose to honor Turner due to his role as an industry leader who has made “diversity and philanthropy” a personal and corporate priority, said Cynthia Dinkins, the foundation’s executive director.

“It is through continued support of events like the annual fundraising dinner by influential executives such as Mr. Turner that we are able to afford aspiring women and people of color the opportunity to gain invaluable first-hand experience working for some of the industry’s most prominent companies.”
