Telenor Satellite Services will provide dedicated capacity on Inmarsat satellites and land earth station services to Comtech to offer its customers real- time asset tracking and messaging services.

The agreement is significant because mobile satellite communications is typically available on a “pay-as-you-go” basis, where customers access the satellite and transmit voice, data, or multimedia communications as needed, Telenor officials said. However, the Comtech agreement is a dedicated lease that provides satellite capacity exclusively to Comtech and its customers.

In addition, the unit of Norse telecom operator Telenor [Nasdaq: TELN] will provide dedicated receiving and transmitting equipment for Comtech at one of Telenor’s earth station.
