Paul E. Jacobson, vice president of corporate communications for Starz Encore Group LLC, has been named deputy communications director for U.S. Senate Majority Leader Senator Bill Frist (R-Tenn.).

Jacobson joined Starz Encore in 1998 after having served as director of corporate communications at Denver-based Ascent Entertainment Group, which owned National Hockey League team Colorado Avalanche and National Basketball Association team Denver Nuggets. He previously was a spokesman for Comsat Corp., an international satellite company. Jacobson’s experience in Washington, D.C., includes a stint as press secretary for former Sen. Warren B. Rudman (R-N.H.).
