Italy, Germany In Dispute

European Commission president Romano Prodi has urged the political leaders of Italy and Germany not to hinder the development of the Galileo satellite navigation project.
Both Germany and Italy want to provide the main production base for the satellite system and their battle for supremacy here is casting a shadow over the whole project. It threatens to delay the 2.6 billion euros ($2.55 billion) project, which has a scheduled completions date of 2008.
