Abrared, owner of NEO, an interactive broadband supplier into the Spanish market, has linked with SES Multimedia to supply two-way satellite capacity on Astra’s broadband interactive (BBI) system. NEO is a Spanish LMDS operator (using the 38 GHz band) providing broadband telecommunication services that has Iberdrola as its main shareholder. The deal targets business and SME users across Spain from early in 2002 to tap into Astra’s two-way transmission. Robert Feierbach, business director of SES Multimedia commented: “This agreement with Abrared is a very important step for the dynamic Spanish broadband and interactive market.”
