Nobis TV, a new German teleshopping and product presentational channel, will launch in both analogue and digital on Astra (19.2 degrees East) on September 1. The service, which is based in Burkau near Dresden, aims to distinguish itself from existing competitors such as QVC Germany, RTL Shop and Home Shopping Europe (formerly HOT) by screening presentations of products, goods and services in so-called infomercials which viewers can instantly order. Nobis TV, which already has an Internet presence at http://www.nobistv.de, received a licence from Sachsen’s local media authority in spring 2000.
