EUROBIRD SECURES NEW CUSTOMER

By Staff Writer | May 23, 2001

Greyhound racing channel Gobarkingmadtv, owned by Gaming Internet, has become the latest broadcaster to sign a contract for transponder capacity on Eutelsat’s Eurobird, to compliment its successful Internet operation. A number of broadcasters, such as Euronews and God Digital, have already taken advantage of the considerably lower transponder charges compared to the co-located Astra satellites. Nigel Gibson, head of TV channel distribution at France Telecom’s uplink provider Globecast Northern Europe, expects the channel to be on the air “by early June”.
