ASTRA HOUSEHOLD COVERAGE EUROPE – YEAR 2000
During 1999 the European audience for digital DTH/SMATV television grew by 4.1 million homes, taking the total to 7.67 million, spread over 22 European countries, according to research compiled by SES-Astra. Analogue DTH distribution declined for the first time, by 1.3 million homes. France (at the end of 1999) was Europe’s leading digi-market, up 960,000 homes, some 33.1 per cent of the total. The UK was next with 28 per cent share, followed by Italy with 14.9 per cent, Spain with 10.8 per cent and Germany with 6.8 per cent.
