[Via Satellite 12-22-2015] Axesat, a leading telecommunications provider in Latin America, has signed a deal with O3b Networks for High Throughput Satellite (HTS) capacity. The company intends to use the capacity to support Internet Service Providers (ISPs) with broadband capabilities and Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) with 3G and 4G LTE connectivity for their subscribers. The agreement will also provide services to the corporate, government and residential markets.

O3b will provide HTS capacity from its constellation of satellites in Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), which provide data with a latency of less than 150 milliseconds. Axesat will implement O3b’s IP trunking solution, O3bTrunk, and will be able to continue scaling up capacity as demand increases.
