Gilat Wins SkyEdge 2 VSAT Customer in the Philippines

[Via Satellite 12-22-2014] Delnet International Corp., a Philippine communications solutions provider, selected Gilat’s Ku-band SkyEdge 2 VSAT network to enable Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) to offer an enterprise VSAT connectivity service. PLDT will use a SkyEdge 2 hub that was operated by a subsidiary named Cignal. The hub was installed at an Earth station in Pampanga, Philippines.

Gilat is also providing SkyEdge 2 Access and IP VSATs for the PLDT project. PLDT intends to offer enterprise VSAT connectivity as part of its suite of IP-VPN connectivity solutions, extending to areas not accessible through terrestrial or fixed wireless solutions. The system is optimized against rain fade though Gilat’s Auto Gain Control feature that enables each SkyEdge 2 VSAT to adapt automatically to adverse weather conditions.
