[Via Satellite 03-13-2014] Trustcomm has selected the Integral Systems Europe business group of Kratos Defense and Security Solutions to deliver its Starlight gateway satellite earth station for installation in Cyprus to service Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia. The gateway Earth station will support TrustComm’s Starlight solution, a mobile satellite service based on Thuraya L-band technology.

The system to be delivered includes redundant antennas and RF equipment, as well as overall system monitoring control provided by Kratos’ Compass product. Kratos ISE UK will also supply power calibration equipment based on Monics selective power metering technology from SAT Corporation, a Kratos subsidiary.

The system will be built and tested at Kratos ISE UK’s ground system integration facility near Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, prior to shipping it to the installation site, where Kratos will undertake the installation, integration and final testing. The contract includes an option for the provision of a second gateway system in the future.

“Kratos ISE UK delivered a fully integrated proposal for the implementation of TrustComm’s Starlight service from the Cyta teleport in Cyprus,” said Ian Canning, COO of TrustComm. “Kratos’ past experience in delivering very similar solutions to Thuraya along with the integration with the other Kratos product offerings in the total solution made the decision to use Kratos compelling.”
