Globecomm Extends Satellite Coverage with Avanti

[Via Satellite 02-03-2014] Globecomm Systems has extended its contract with Avanti in order to deploy satellite broadband services to businesses in South Africa.

Using Avanti’s Hylas 2 satellite, Globecomm will deploy Ka-band satellite connectivity to enterprise customers in RSA. Globecomm will operate out of Cape Town and Johannesburg for this project, and the partnership, based on the Hughes platform, is set to extend beyond South Africa later this year.

“Avanti’s service has always proven to be reliable and high-quality, even when faced with adverse conditions such as torrential weather,” said Harry Tayler, managing director at Globecomm South Africa. “As advocates of Ka-band satellite for some time we are very pleased to be extending broadband reach into South Africa through our latest partnership.”
