[Via Satellite 11-26-13] Building on the success of a previous purchase, Comtech EF Data, a subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications has received a $1.0 million equipment order. This follow-on order from a telecommunications operator is for satellite Earth station equipment, including satellite modems, CX-U RAN Optimization Units, RF transceivers and amplifiers. The operator will utilize the equipment to support the further build out of a Vipersat-powered unified national emergency telecommunications and network restoral platform in the Asia-Pacific region.

The network consists of two national hubs, 300 fixed Earth stations, 100+ Communication-on-The-Move (COTM) emergency response vehicles and flyaways. The combination of VMS and the Comtech EF Data modems enable a variety of antenna sizes, power, modulation and forward error correction combinations to be utilized. A single Vipersat system can provide backup services for multiple operators, many geographic locations and a variety of remotes from just a few kbps to multi-Mbps.
