Bentley Walker Activates 2,000th Terminal in Libya on Hughes Systems

[Via Satellite 10-10-13] Bentley Walker has activated its 2,000th terminal on Hughes Network Systems in Libya after just one year of operating its two Hughes HN and HX System Network Operations Centers (NOCs) over Avanti’s Hylas 2 satellite, providing Ka-band broadband services to the local market. The HN System provides highly secure and highly available IP transport for data, and real-time video and voice. The HX platform optimizes satellite bandwidth utilization, delivering maximum flexibility and operational cost-effectiveness

This expansion in the Libyan market follows the successful provision of Ka-band broadband data and voice services to U.S. military personnel in Afghanistan, augmenting existing Ku-band offerings with higher speeds at lower cost using a smaller dish.

In another move to further expand its presence in the region, Bentley Walker has recently signed an agreement with Hughes Europe for a managed NOC to deploy new services in Northern Iraq.
