What inspired ST Engineering iDirect to partner with G&S SatCom, and how does this collaboration align with your vision for the Intuition ground system?

Sridhar Kuppanna, CTO and SVP Engineering, ST Engineering iDirect:

ST Engineering iDirect CTO Sridhar Kuppanna

Our vision for Intuition has always been to simplify how operators run increasingly complex SATCOM networks. These networks involve multiple vendors, multiple bespoke systems and integrations, and different generations of technology that don’t naturally work together. G&S SatConnect® already addresses many of these challenges in the field by unifying network management and service management and providing strong OSS/BSS integration.

By bringing G&S SatConnect® into Intuition as a native module, we’re extending that unification into a much broader operational framework. Intuition delivers the full set of capabilities operators need to manage modern networks—standardized configuration, centralized observability, data collection and enrichment, analytics, automation, and security—under a single, standards‑based architecture. Operators can configure, monitor, and operate their networks from one pane of glass without relying on custom integrations or specialized knowledge of each vendor’s tools. This directly reduces operational complexity and gives them a clear, incremental path to modernize at their own pace.

How does the integration of G&S SatConnect® enhance the capabilities of Intuition for your customers?

Sridhar Kuppanna:

The integration introduces a robust service management layer that bridges network operations with service definition, delivery, and lifecycle management. This is achieved through a standardized API framework that creates seamless interoperability with existing ST Engineering iDirect platforms, external OSS/BSS systems, and third-party applications. Centralizing these functions has a very practical impact. Operators can bring services online faster, automate routine workflows, and maintain consistent service definitions across different orbits and hybrid networks. For example, if a customer changes a service plan, the update can be pushed across the network automatically, and the operator can immediately see the effect on performance and SLAs. It’s a more predictable and efficient way to run their operations.

What makes G&S SatConnect® a natural fit for integration with the Intuition ground system, and how does it complement ST Engineering iDirect’s offerings?

David Schmitz, CEO, G&S SatCom:

G&S SatConnect® was designed from day one for heterogeneous satellite environments. It doesn’t assume a single network, orbit, or technology – it assumes a constantly changing environment. That makes it a natural complement to Intuition, which is a fundamentally different cloud-native, multi-orbit ground system.

G&S SatCom CEO David Schmitz

While ST Engineering iDirect leads in network management and ground infrastructure, G&S SatConnect® adds service provisioning, OSS/BSS, and commercial management on top. Together, we create something larger than a technical integration – we create a service-centric operating model.

The real strength lies in the ability to extend across the entire ST Engineering iDirect installed base – existing platforms and new Intuition ground system networks – and bring them into a consistent service and business framework. That’s where their customers begin to unlock transformative value, including the capability to leverage multi-network environments more flexibly.

How does the integration of G&S SatConnect® simplify operations for satellite operators and service providers who want to add new ST Engineering iDirect services ?

David Schmitz:

Operators today often manage multiple networks, contracts, service models, and customer environments – each with its own operational processes. That fragmentation slows innovation and is a large cost driver.

Through this partnership, ST Engineering iDirect is introducing a unified layer that connects network capabilities with service definition  and customer management. Operators can manage complex, multi-network environments in a single pane of glass without replacing their existing infrastructure.

The result is fewer silos, reduced manual steps, and significantly lower integration effort. But beyond simplification, it also gives operators the confidence to innovate faster – because the operational foundation is consistent and scalable.

Can you elaborate on how the unified approach changes the day‑to‑day operations for network operations teams in practical terms?

Sridhar Kuppanna:

The unified approach gives operators a consistent way to run their networks, regardless of the underlying vendor or technology generation. Today, teams move between multiple tools to configure networks, troubleshoot issues, and manage services. With Intuition and G&S SatConnect® working together, those workflows are consolidated into a single operational framework. Operators can see the full picture—configuration, performance, alarms, service behavior, events—in one place, which significantly reduces the time spent correlating information across systems. It also reduces the need for specialized knowledge, which lowers training requirements and improves overall efficiency. The result is a more predictable, streamlined operating environment that allows teams to focus on higher‑value tasks rather than manual coordination.

What specific benefits will operators and service providers see from the standardized API layer introduced through this integration?

Sridhar Kuppanna:

The standardized API layer is a critical enabler of interoperability, allowing seamless integration between the Intuition ground system, existing ST Engineering iDirect platforms, and third-party systems. This reduces the complexity and time required for custom development and integration projects and gives operators a predictable way to integrate their operational and commercial systems.

API layer standardization also enables end‑to‑end visibility and automation. Operators can correlate network performance with service behavior, automate billing workflows, or integrate with external orchestration systems without bespoke engineering. When they introduce a new service or customer segment, the API layer ensures the network and service management systems stay synchronized. It significantly reduces integration time and cost.

How does G&S SatConnect® enable ST Engineering iDirect’s operator customers to modernize their networks while maintaining uninterrupted service?

David Schmitz:

Modernization in our industry cannot mean disruption. Most operators have years of investment in deployed infrastructure and long-term contractual obligations often for mission critical service.

Now, ST Engineering iDirect customers are supported with powerful tools to manage their installed platforms more holistically for gradual and controlled change. The integrated G&S SatConnect® sits above the network layer, allowing operators to harmonize services across existing platforms and new Intuition deployments simultaneously. They can introduce new technologies and multi-orbit services without redesigning their entire operational stack.

This means customers can modernize at their own pace, extract value immediately from what they already operate, and avoid costly and distracting “rip-and-replace” scenarios. It’s about controlled transformation rather than forced migration.

How does this collaboration help satellite operators unlock new commercial opportunities and improve customer experiences?

David Schmitz:

One of the most exciting aspects of our platform’s integration into ST Engineering iDirect technology is its commercial impact.

By combining real-time network intelligence from Intuition with advanced service and product management in G&S SatConnect®, operators can design more sophisticated, customer-specific offerings. They can tailor services per vertical, combine capacity across networks, and introduce flexible pricing or SLA-driven models.

At the same time, improved capacity optimization and alignment with contractual commitments increase profitability. Operators are not just running networks more efficiently – they are turning operational insight into commercial advantage.

For customers, that translates into faster provisioning, clearer service visibility, and a more consistent experience across technologies and regions.

What are the key milestones for rolling out the integration of G&S SatConnect® with Intuition throughout 2026?

Sridhar Kuppanna:

We are taking a phased approach to ensure operators can adopt the new capabilities without disruption.  The first phase will focus on enabling interoperability between the Intuition ground system, existing ST Engineering iDirect platforms, and third-party OSS/BSS systems. Subsequent phases will expand the single-pane-of-glass experience to include additional network types and service layers, providing operators with comprehensive visibility and control across their entire ecosystem. By the end of 2026, operators will have a fully unified operational and commercial platform that supports end-to-end service configuration, orchestration and lifecycle management.

What feedback have you received from operators and service providers about the benefits of this unified approach to network and service management?

David Schmitz:

Excitement because operators clearly see new commercial opportunities – without having to initiate large-scale, costly integration programs every time they introduce a new network or service.

The ability to seamlessly connect existing and next-generation environments, integrate partner networks, and combine those capabilities into differentiated services tailored to real customer demand is increasingly recognized as essential for long-term success. Service providers understand that thriving in today’s market requires both agility and operational stability – and this partnership delivers both.

How do you see this unified approach evolving as operators look ahead to the next generation of SATCOM networks?

Sridhar Kuppanna:

Unifying network and service management is an important first step, but it’s part of a much broader direction we’re moving toward. As operators consolidate their workflows and data across existing networks, it creates the foundation for deeper intelligence, automation, and AI‑driven decision‑making. There is an enormous amount of underutilized data in our networks which can be harvested, enriched and standardized for further AI modeling. We’re building toward a framework where predictive analytics, guided mitigation, and closed‑loop automation become part of everyday operations.

This will help operators shift from reactive troubleshooting to proactive modeling and eventually autonomous operations, while modernizing at their own pace—whether they’re running legacy systems, hybrid architectures, or preparing for multi‑orbit and 5G NTN environments. The work underway now sets the stage for that evolution and positions Intuition to support the next generation of satellite networks.
