Internet connectivity alone is no longer enough for the problems that businesses are trying to solve. This week, Orbius CEO Halldor Sigurdsson joins Via Satellite for a Thursday Morning Conversation about how the company enables connectivity for its customers.
As satellite connectivity becomes more commoditized, Sigurdsson says Orbius aims to create more business value through advanced, industry-specific solutions. The company has deep heritage in the maritime sector and operates in other verticals like oil and gas, agriculture, and more. Sigurdsson explains how Orbius takes the opportunity opened up by Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites and combines that with fiber and 5G to create more reliable networks and offer advanced solutions through its StarEDGE platform.
Calling into the TMC from an office in the Faroe Islands, Sigurdsson says it’s shows the potential of satellite to “create ways of connecting in different parts of the world.”
