In our latest Thursday Morning Conversation, we talk to SES Vice President of Product Development Engineering David Mathewson about SES’s latest plans around developing satellites, the advantages of having a multi-orbit play, as well the new capabilities of its MEO satellites. SES is highly invested in its Medium-Earth Orbit (MEO) strategy and is now running multiple MEO programs. Mathewson also talks about SES’s latest MeoSphere program, a next MEO satellite network targeted for operation by 2030.
SES also believes it has a strong play in the sovereign arena as it can “blend different orbits” to meet strong demands here. Mathewson believes SES is evolving its approach towards developing new satellites. It is building its own payloads, for example, and the operator is taking a more expansive approach as it looks to look learn faster, build faster, and move faster to meet customer needs.
