Accenture and Planet have formed a partnership to collaborate on sustainability and impact initiatives, including supply chain strategy and climate risk assessments, the companies announced Dec. 6. The collaboration will work to inform decision-making at organizations in industries including agriculture, consumer packaged goods, energy, forestry and government.

Accenture said this is part of the company’s commitment to space innovation and exploration as a business opportunity for its clients.

Giving an example of the collaboration, the companies said Accenture worked with Planet using AI and machine learning models and Planet’s satellite data to create a geospatial solution that models the impact of climate change on energy capacity in Central America and the Caribbean. This was presented at the IDB Invest Sustainability Week conference in Miami in June 2022, as a proof of concept for the Inter-American Development Bank.

Planet said this collaboration with the Accenture Ventures’ Project Spotlight program will show how Planet’s data benefit organizations across different industry sectors.

“Accenture has demonstrated a deep commitment to sustainability and to helping its clients around the world utilize innovative technologies and new sources of data to help drive their sustainability efforts forward, so we view this as a very strategic collaboration,” said Kevin Weil, president of Product and Business at Planet.
