Qatar is looking to satellite to boost its military capabilities with a new MoU signed by Es’hailSat and the Qatar Armed Forces (QAF). The MoU is for satellite communications and ground networks for sovereign requirements. It will provide QAF with satellite communication services, ground infrastructure, and secure, flexible network solutions to support sovereign and operational requirements for government and military entities. Es’hailSat announced the deal, Jan. 21.
Both parties are looking to strengthen frameworks for joint cooperation and exchange of technical and technological expertise to serve the national and strategic interests of both QAF and Es’hailSat and build upon their shared interest in cooperation in this field. Through the Qatar Amiri Signal Corps, the Armed Forces oversee and maintain secure, sovereign, and resilient communications systems that underpin command, control, and mission continuity across the defense sector. Their work includes advancing field operations support, delivering technical and operational expertise, and enabling sustainable communications in both routine and emergency environments.
“Es’hailSat is delighted to enter into this enhanced partnership with Qatar Armed Forces that brings the experience and industry knowledge of Es’hailSat to complement the unique sovereign role of Qatar Armed Forces in protecting national security, supporting defense capabilities and ensuring operational readiness under all circumstances” Ali Ahmed Al-Kuwari, president and CEO of Es’hailSat, said in a statement.
