NASA has awarded Capella Space a blanket purchase agreement (BPA) for the company’s synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data, NASA announced Monday. This gives NASA five years to order Capella’s data, not to exceed a value of $7 million.

Capella has agreed to deliver a comprehensive catalog of its high-resolution SAR commercial Earth observation data products including data sets, associated metadata and ancillary information; data cadence; data latency; area coverage; and data usage policy.

NASA is procuring data from small satellite constellations that might augment NASA’s own data. The agency recently signed a similar deal with the U.S. subsidiary of Finnish SAR company Iceye. The Iceye BPA is also a five-year agreement not to exceed $7 million.

Capella also recently created a U.S. federal subsidiary to further support U.S. government customers.
