Despite protests from some U.S. Air Force officials, the House Armed Services Committee has moved ahead with the proposed Space Corps branch, passing it as a provision in last month’s National Defense Authorization. While legislation still has a ways to go before the new military branch becomes a reality, officials are eyeing Colorado Springs as its new potential headquarters due to its proximity to the Air Force Academy and the Peterson and Schriever Air Force bases.
