Norsat Releases 0.9 Meter Carbon Fiber Manpack

[Via Satellite 01-23-2015] Norsat International has debuted the Journey Manpack, a six-segment, carbon fiber 0.9-meter Ku-band satellite terminal. Weighing less than 18 kilograms (40 lbs), the manpack can be set up in less than 10 minutes and can be optionally equipped with LinkControl software to simplify the antenna alignment process.

A Block Upconverter (BUC), Low Noise Block (LNB) and modem are all included in the Journey Manpack, though it can be customized with others to meet customer requirements. According to Norsat, the terminal delivers Rx data rates up to 45 Mbps, and Tx data rates up to 20 Mbps. The Journey manpack is MIL-STD-810G compliant, and can operate for more than four hours continuously using an AC power or a 4/6 cell battery pack.
