Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will use satellite technology in its mission to review the country’s electoral boundaries and constituencies. The review is purposed to bring about more equality in political representation, and to prevent mal-apportionments.
Attahiru Jega, INEC chairman, asked the Nigerian National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) to provide the commission with hard and soft copies of high-resolution images of the entire country. The commission is also after street maps of all of the territory. According to reports, NASRDA has the required quality facilities and support to take on the project.
