[Satellite TODAY Insider 11-06-12] Secure mobile communication technology provider TeleCommunication Systems (TCS) is one of 20 companies selected under the Pentagon’s Global Tactical Advanced Communication Systems and Services (GTACS) contract, which carries an estimated ceiling of $10 billion over five years, TCS announced Nov. 6.
The multiple-awardee, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity GTACS contract vehicle was issued through the Department of the Army, Assistant Secretary for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology, Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications-Tactical (PEO C3Ts), Special Projects Office, Northeast Regional Response Center (NRRC). The deal will enable U.S. Department of Defense agencies to purchase TCS’ turnkey family of deployable satellite systems and associated support services for the Warfighter Tactical Communications Systems and Services (WTCSS). The contract is also the successor to the World-Wide Satellite Systems (WWSS) contract vehicle.
TCS will offer its TotalCom platform, which provides deployable, secure communication solutions and end-to-end managed services for converged (IP-based) voice, video and data solutions to organizations requiring seamless and secure connectivity between fixed sites and remote operations around the world.
TCS Senior Vice President and General Manager of Government Solutions
Michael Bristol said his company has worked to establish a proven track record as a trusted provider of communication technology solutions to solve the government’s toughest technical challenges.
“This is very exciting news for TCS,” Bristol said in a statement. “WWSS transformed TCS into a major defense integrator of deployable C4ISR communication systems. GTACS has twice the ceiling of WWSS and an expanded scope of work. This award gives DoD agencies the opportunity to purchase TCS TotalCom solutions, consisting of deployable SATCOM and baseband equipment, as well as field support staff and other related services in order to strengthen their vital mission of protecting our nation. TCS looks forward to supplying our current and new DoD customers for the next five years via this contract.”
