[Satellite TODAY 10-22-12] Secure mobile communication technology TeleCommunication Systems (TCS) has received $18 million in funded orders for field services support and maintenance of Secret Internet Protocol Router and Non-secure Internet Protocol Router Access Point (SNAP) Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) satellite systems, TCS confirmed Oct. 22.
The U.S. Army’s PM WIN-T program is funding procurement through its $5 billion World-Wide Satellite Systems (WWSS) contract vehicle. The TCS SNAP VSAT systems aim to provide multimedia communications capabilities that convey encrypted voice, video and data. TCS designed its SNAP products to be highly transportable and ruggedized, with a graphical user interface that facilitates easy set-up and operation.
“It’s imperative for our military to have secure, easily deployable and dependable satellite communications systems and the knowledgeable support to ensure uninterrupted operations,” TCS Government Solutions Senior Vice President and General Manager Michael Bristol said in a statement. “With the dedicated support of TCS’ experienced field service personnel, our brave warriors can rely on the satellite systems they need to achieve mission success.”
