[Satellite TODAY 09-07-12] Inmarsat Government has been selected as a prime contractor under the U.S. General Services Administration’s (GSA) Custom Satcom Solutions (CS2) contract vehicle, a government program to acquire up to $2.6 billion in satellite telecom solutions and end-to-end managed network services during the next five years, Inmarsat Government announced Sept. 7.
The CS2 indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract has a base term of three years plus two one-year option periods. The contract will allow federal agencies to work with the prime contractors to receive end-to-end satellite networks, satellite bandwidth, fixed or mobile satellite and service-enabling components.
The CS2 program is the final segment of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and GSA’s Future Comsatcom Services Acquisition (FCSA) initiative. Inmarsat Government is also a prime provider under the FCSA Schedule 70 program that supports federal, state and local governments with direct access to the highest quality commercial telecommunications hardware, software and services.
“The FCSA CS2 award reinforces Inmarsat Government’s strong relationship with U.S. government satcom users,” Inmarsat President and CEO David Helfgott said in a statement. “We understand the U.S. government’s growing need for flexibility, resiliency and efficiency worldwide, and are committed to delivering cost-effective, innovative and secure communications to meet those requirements.”
