MDA Wins Mobile Servicing System Contract Extension with CSA

      [Satellite TODAY 03-06-12] Canadian satellite and information solutions provider MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates (MDA) has signed a $14.7 million contract amendment with the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) for logistics and sustaining engineering requirements for its Mobile Servicing System, MDA announced March 5.

         The amendment extends MDA’s work on the system through March 2013 and brings the total value of its CSA contract to $152.7 million.
         The Mobile Servicing System is Canada’s contribution to the international space station (ISS) and is a permanent resident on the spacecraft.
         The Mobile Servicing System includes the Canadarm2, Dextre and Mobile Base System robotic components that provide support for berthing of visiting vehicles and on-going maintenance. The ISS is expected to remain in operation through 2020.
