[Satellite TODAY 02-03-11] Tachyon Networks and Comtech EF Data have partnered to develop airborne comms-on-the-move (COTM) solutions to deliver bandwidth to airborne terminals, the companies announced Feb. 2.
    Tachyon will receive exclusive rights to a jointly specified baseband modem board, which will be integrated into an aXiom 9000 series airborne terminal router supporting forward link waveforms. Comtech said the cooperation also focuses on the beyond-line-of-sight needs of forward-deployed warfighters.
    Tachyon’s aXiom data rates boast the ability to stream real-time 3-D HD video, which has been a highly sought after capability for military commanders. The companies intend to deliver the new solutions by the end of the year.
