Infinity Systems Engineering won a $17.4 million contract from U.S. Air Force Space Command to provide communications and engineering support on three military communications satellite systems over the next five-and-a-half years, Infinity announced Jan. 7.
Infinity will support the Air Force’s 4th Space Operations and 614th Space Communications Squadrons in planning and operating the Pentagon’s Milstar military communications satellite network and the Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) satellite network that will replace Milstar.
Infinity joins subcontractors Integrity Communications Solutions, L-3 Communications and WPL on the program contract.
The AEHF satellite system is designed to provide global, secure, protected and jam-resistant communications for all military units and significantly increase capacity levels provided by the Milstar system. The first AEHF satellite was launched in August. The second and third satellites are scheduled to launch in 2012 and 2013, respectively.
