[Satellite TODAY 10-05-10] Norsat received satellite terminal orders totaling $4.2 million from various U.S. government organizations, the company announced Oct. 4.
However, Norsat President and CEO Amiee Chan said the orders were received in the third quarter, which was later than the Canadian satellite company expected. Due to the delay, Chan said that Norsat would not be able to ship the orders until the fourth quarter of 2010, which will affect the company’s third quarter revenues.
“We anticipate third quarter revenues to be below levels reported in 2009, but the company will remain profitable. While the timing is something we can not control and can disrupt quarterly results at times, the key importance for us is that these orders have been placed, are funded and are now in our backlog. Particularly satisfying are that several of these orders are for new products that we have developed in consultation with customers,” Chan said in a statement.
