[Satellite TODAY 07-02-10] Harris Corp. has received a $23.5 million order from the U.S. Department of Defense for Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) approved Falcon 3 AN/PRC-152 multiband handheld radio systems and accessories, the company announced July 1.
The order, awarded on behalf of the U.S. Air Force, aims to provide warfighters with integrated multiband, multi-mission handheld radios with advanced capabilities for portable line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight tactical communications. The radios also are designed to serve as the dismountable transceiver in the AN/VRC-110 vehicular amplifier adapter system and integrate pre-planned upgrades and new capabilities while offering compatibility with legacy radios.
The Falcon 3 AN/PRC-152 was developed by Harris following the U.S. military’s JTRS Enterprise Business Model and operates on the JTRS software communications architecture.
