[Satellite TODAY 02-10-10] Northrop Grumman appointed Linnie Haynesworth vice president and deputy program director for its National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) division, the company announced Feb. 9.
Haynesworth’s appointment comes just eight days after the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) announced that the NPOESS program would be dismantled and split between separate projects headed by the U.S. Department of Defense and a partnership between NASA and the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
The company said Haynesworth will remain responsible for execution of the current NPOESS program, for which Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems sector is the prime contractor. Haynesworth has been involved with the NPOESS program since June 2008
