[Satellite Today 03-03-09] Boeing Co. has reached a four-year national partnership agreement with For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) to encourage students to explore careers in math and science, Boeing announced Feb. 27.
This expanded relationship, valued at $4 million, builds on an existing multi-year partnership between the organizations.
FIRST, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1989 by inventor Dean Kamen, along with Boeing, will organize teams of high school students to collaborate with adult mentors during an annual six-week period to design, build and program robots from a common kit of parts for competition.
