[Satellite Today 07-14-08] Echo Satellite Communications Inc. has supplied U.S. Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) with the first order for HeliSat3 Iridium repeater systems, the company announced
HeliSat3 was developed for NAVAIR and will provide users of Iridium satellite telephones with the ability to connect to an Iridium satellite while in transit in a helicopter.
The repeater creates a local hotspot within the helicopter which then relays calls to the satellite, Echo Satellite said.
